Aspiring to a slower, more conscious way of life, celebrating talented craftswomen as we go.
Take a look behind the scenes to see the ancient tradition of block printing. Preserving old techniques to solve a modern problem.

Explore our partnership with a Fair Trade women’s cooperative that specialise in hand-knitting as way of generating sustainable livelihoods.

We celebrate and champion talented craftswomen, providing them with sustainable livelihoods. We release small, seasonless collections when they are ready, without production deadlines, enabling our female artisans to enjoy work and life on their own terms.

 Our Philosophy

We aspire to a slower, more conscious way of life – and this permeates everything we do. By celebrating the art of artisanal craft, we encourage the consumer to slow down, reflect and appreciate the tell-tale signs of the human hand at work.

We hope that our contemplative and thoughtful approach to making clothes generates a sense of emotional attachment to each item, creating sustainable relationships between the clothes we buy and how we take care of them.

I spent Saturday learning more about the world of natural dyes alongside the talented @naomi.creative.roots. Gaining more of an insight into this beautiful process and appreciating the abundance of dyes that surround us all was so fulfilling.

It was a really lovely day spent chatting and creating with likeminded ladies at the @potager_garden. This slow and mindful process left me feeling excited and curious.

I can’t wait to continue my creative journey with natural dyes and seeing how we can continue to apply them to our clothes in new and innovative ways.

For anyone looking to learn something new in the South West, Naomi runs a number of brilliant natural dye courses throughout the year.

Thank you for sharing these ancient techniques ✨🌱

✨ EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

BANJAARA has partnered with a Fair Trade women’s cooperative that specialise in hand-knitting as way of generating sustainable livelihoods. Known as the ‘Hill Women’, they are based in the Himalayan region of Northern India. The craftswomen are shareholders in the company, owning 100% of their business. The money BANJAARA pays for our beautiful knits goes directly to them, without any middlemen taking a cut.

The Hill Women’s cooperative is organised into 50 self-help groups and provides sustainable livelihoods for 700 women. This enterprise enables them to work out of their homes producing quality hand-knitted items with the flexibility they require to manage their family life.

One of the major challenges the Hill Women face is selling their craft at a larger scale to international markets. BANJAARA can provide this bridge, enabling these marginalised women to participate in the global economy. The wages provided from our partnership not only empower each of the craftswomen personally but as mothers too by creating opportunities to invest in their children’s education, health, and well-being.

Women hold up half the sky. As a female business owner I am determined to invest time and resources into nurturing these relationships so that we can remain as socially impactful as possible. We love telling stories and will endeavour to strengthen the connections between our wonderful customers and craftswomen as much as possible.

Block printing is a true reflection of what Mother Nature was doing the day it was printed. On a perfectly sunny day the colours will be bright, even clouds passing over the sun will make the colours slightly duller, and small dots could be desert sand being blown over the drying fields.

It’s currently monsoon season in Jaipur. Rajasthan has seen an increase in rainfall this year as to previous years. Printers will have to wait to start printing again, putting the production on hold. We are reminded of the importance of the seasons with our work, and how we work with nature’s cycles and not against them. Nothing is rushed and all is worth the wait. 🤍🙏
The Sunflower Dabu Trousers 🧡

It’s monsoon season in Jaipur so the drying fields are at a halt. Nothing is rushed and all is worth the wait 🤍
